SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 8, 2018 – Granite River Labs (GRL), a global leader in engineering services and test solutions for connectivity, today announced their second generation USB Power Delivery and USB Type-C™ compliance test solution, GRL-USB-PD-C2, was approved for official Qualcomm® Quick Charge™ 4 and 4+ compliance testing in addition to versions 2.0 and 3.0. Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, has also selected GRL as an official Quick Charge certification lab at GRL’s facilities in Santa Clara, Yokohama, Taipei, Shanghai, Dongguan and Bangalore.
Quick Charge 4 implements additional safety measures to protect against overcharging, overheating, and other potential issues. These safety measures adhere to both the USB Type-C™ and USB Power Delivery (USB PD) specifications. New key features such as USB PD’s Programmable Power Supply (PPS) enable fast, efficient charging by allowing the phone to intelligently decide the optimal voltage and current levels and effectively communicate with the charger.
“As an innovative leader in compliance testing with a proven history of USB PD verification, GRL has been working closely with Qualcomm Technologies to bring the speed, reliability, safety and consistency of Quick Charge to the entire mobile industry with Quick Charge 4 and beyond,” said Johnson Tan, GRL co-Founder and CEO.
“GRL has been instrumental in helping us bring the long history of reliability, safety and interoperability of Quick Charge 2.0 and 3.0 to the USB PD ecosystem in the form of Quick Charge 4+,” said Josh Warner, staff manager, product management, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc..  “With this new testing solution, we are excited to have a fast and consistent solution available for our Quick Charge customers.”
